Arsenal U19s suffer defeat in UEFA Youth League

Young Gunners bow out of Europe after loss to PSV

Match report

Arsenal U19s' UEFA Youth League campaign came to an end on Wednesday afternoon as they suffered a 2-1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven U19s at Meadow Park. The young Gunners went into the game knowing that whatever happened at the PSV training centre our run in Europe would not be extending into the new year after.

PSV took the lead midway through the first half when Mauro Junior fired home from close range. Arsenal equalised just before the hour mark through Khayon Edwards, but PSV regained the lead 10 minutes later through Johan Bakayoko.

The young Gunners pushed for a second equaliser but were unable to find a way through the PSV defence. The defeat means that Arsenal finish bottom of Group A with just one point from their six matches.

It was a disappointing end to the campaign for the young Gunners, who have been in good form domestically this season. They will now look to focus on their Premier League 2 campaign, where they are currently top of the table.
