Chile to Shift to Winter Time on April 6, 2024
Time to Turn Clocks Back
Winter Schedule Commences at 11:59 pm on Saturday
Chile will be implementing a time change on April 6, 2024, marking the transition from daylight saving time (DST) to standard time, known as winter time. This adjustment will result in clocks being set back one hour at 11:59 pm on the specified Saturday.
Nationwide Adjustment
The time change applies to the entire Chilean mainland, including Easter Island and the Salas Islands. All residents are advised to adjust their clocks accordingly at the designated time.
Changing Clocks
The implementation of winter time signifies a 60-minute adjustment. At 11:59 pm on April 6, 2024, clocks will shift back from 11:59 pm to 10:59 pm, indicating the start of standard time.
Purpose of Winter Time
The switch to winter time aims to better align daily activities with the natural daylight cycle, reducing energy consumption and improving public safety. During this period, sunsets occur earlier, and extended darkness during evening hours is accommodated by the time adjustment.
